This is my child's second year in the Pre-K Counts with Miss Gina.  The teachers, the assistants, the staff, and the food service worker Miss Susan have all been top notch!  The program is so great for my daughter.  She has learned so much!  We've been so impressed that our 3 year old also attends this year!  Thank you Seton Hill Child Services for a wonderful program!

Infant Toddler Quality Assurance Training Mentor

Hello! My name is Carly Kristoff and I am the Infant Toddler Quality Assurance Training Mentor. My role at Seton Hill Child Services is to support our infant and toddler classrooms. We use Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD in our classrooms to create meaningful lessons and monitor children’s progress. I serve as a resource to our centers to ensure center compliance to Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Act, SHCS procedures, and DHS regulations. I also ensure that quality training is being done with our infant and toddler teachers throughout the year. Also, I observe the classrooms using Keystone STAR’s ITERS tool to ensure that best practice is being used and create new goals for the teachers. Infants and toddlers are hitting new milestones almost every day and we are excited to work with them and develop them even further! If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call at 724-836-0099 x. 1034.

Preschool Quality Assurance Training Mentor

Hello, my name is Crystal Keeney-Burkett and I am the Preschool Quality Assurance training mentor. My role at Seton Hill Child Services is to support our preschool classrooms- Head Start, state Head Start (HSSAP), Pre-K Counts and any other preschool classroom. Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD are the resources used in the classrooms to align, plan, and guide learning within our classrooms. These are research based, aligned with the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards and have developmentally appropriate expectations for our children’s learning. I observe classrooms using the ECERS-3 and CLASS tools then create goals with the teachers to improve the classroom. It is my passion to provide preschool children with a safe, loving, fun and developmentally appropriate education environment that supports their growth and school readiness skills. This is the focus of my interactions daily with the preschool teachers and the ultimate goal for our preschool program at Seton Hill Child Services, Inc.

Staff who are employed at Seton Hill Child Services with a high school diploma begin the process of obtaining their Child Development Associate (CDA). The Infant Toddler and Preschool Quality Assurance Training Mentors provide guidance to staff in achieving this credential. It is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education (ECE) and is a key stepping stone on the path of career advancement in ECE.

The Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential™ is based on a core set of competency standards, which guide early care professionals as they work toward becoming qualified teachers of young children. The Council works to ensure that the nationally-transferable CDA is a credible and valid credential, recognized by the profession as a vital part of professional development. Candidates learn how to nurture the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social development of children.
